The Meaning of Galentine’s Day

“What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year!”

Galentine’s Day was started by the writers of an American television series ‘Parks & Recreation’. In the fictional world of Pawnee, Indiana, Lesley Knope (played by Amy Poehler) was the epitome of a loyal friend. An earnest Feminist and ambitious overachiever, Lesley’s optimistic and passionate drive to shower her friends with her love was both hilarious and endearing. If you haven’t seen the show, I would highly recommend it. Lesley has left a beautiful indelible mark on my life and many, many others.

The spirit of Galentine’s Day has managed to crossover into non-fiction, even 5 years after the last episode of the series aired. Every 13th of February, thousands of ladies celebrate Lesley and the ultimate sisterhood. “Ladies Celebrating Ladies and kickin’ it breakfast style” (or simply in a lovely text with meme-love). Lesley believed that women supporting women was worth celebrating, perhaps even more so than romantic love. Friendships can create a strength and a bond that I believe is well worth nurturing and celebrating.

Lesley’s sisterhood has grown over the years (particularly due to Amazon Prime re-runs) and this year we thought we’d also join in. Women are the cornerstone of our company – the majority of our team are women, and we’re extremely proud to have such an incredible group of people who support us day-to-day. Most of our customers are also women and so…

...we want to wish you a very Happy Galentine’s Day today! We truly appreciate your ongoing support of us and hope that you manage to get some time to ‘Treat Yo Self’ and those lovely ladies in your life.
